In clinical studies, subjects injected with cobra venom reported the following dose related adverse effects: headache, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, dizziness, sweating, palpitations, diplopia, nystagmus, hemiplegia. If they occur, the side effects of oral administration are usually nausea, headache and upset stomach.
A. Allergic reactions, sometimes severe (anaphylactic), to cobra venom have been reported when the product is injected. The first symptoms of anaphylaxis are body wide redness and rash, itchy palms and feet, cold sweats. Anaphylaxis manifests usually within 30 minutes of administration. If untreated it can lead to difficulty breathing and a serious drop in blood pressure, both of which can be life threatening. The use of antihistamines was found to alleviate the allergic reaction.
